Metrowest Music Policies

Private Lessons

Students taking private instrumental lessons enroll on a month to month to basis. A month begins with every cycle of four lessons, not with the calendar month. The school has a rolling admissions policy and new students may enroll at any time during the year, depending on availability of space.

Student’s absences and make-up policy

When a student signs up for private lessons, he/she is paying for a specific lesson time slot. Since this time slot is reserved for the student and no other students can be booked during that time, payment of a lesson is due even when the student is not able to attend. All lessons must be paid for, whether taken or missed. Each student is entitled to one excused absence every 3-month period. If a student chooses to attend a school, athletic or social event as their one excused absence, no other absence will be excused, including illness and family vacations. For a student to be officially excused and eligible for a make-up, the cancellation must be communicated by noon on the day of the lesson for lessons occurring 3: 00 p.m. or later, and by 9: 00 a.m. for lessons scheduled before 3:00 p.m. Cancellations after this period will not be made-up. Longer absences (in case of extended travel) should be communicated with at least two-week notice to arrange for time slot reassignment. Emergencies will be taken into consideration at the discretion of the Studio.

All cancellations must be called into the studio's number: (508) 306-1473 or e-mailed to info@metrowestmusic.com. Please choose phone over e-mail if cancellation is made the day of the lesson.

Tardiness

Students are expected to arrive on time for the lesson. The instructor is not obligated to extend the lesson in case of tardiness, and lessons will end at the student's scheduled time.

Teacher Absences

If the teacher is absent, a makeup will always be offered to the student.

Withdrawal

Two consecutive non-attendance without notice constitute withdrawal from lessons. There are no refunds for prepaid lessons.

Refunds

There are no refunds for paid lessons under any circumstances.

Weather Cancellations

During the winter months, it may be necessary to close school activities following a snow storm. Metrowest Music Studio does not follow public school closing schedule since most of the classes take place in the afternoon. The Studio does not guarantee make-up lessons or ensemble classes if they are canceled due to weather conditions.

Drop Off & Pick-Up

Please bring younger children into the lesson room. Please be ready to pick up your child at the end of the lesson.

Practice Expectations

Learning to play an instrument is an ongoing endeavor which requires dedication and discipline on the part of the student. A musical instrument study is a partnership between student, teacher and parents, when applicable. The lesson is a very small portion of the week. It is the responsibility of the student and parent/guardian to see that the remainder of the week is productive.

Tuition

Tuition is to be paid in full at the beginning of the month, which consists of a cycle of four lessons. Rates are different whether the student is taught at home or at the studio located at 781 Washington St, Holliston, MA. There is a $20 charge for all returned checks. For your convenience, we also accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit cards through Paypal Business.

Referrals and Discounts

Students may earn $40 tuition discounts for referrals. A credit (no cash will be paid) will be awarded for each referral that results in a new student who enrolls for private lessons. Two members of the same family may sign up for two consecutive 30-minute lessons at the one hour rate.

All student information is confidential and not shared with individuals, organizations or businesses. Hardcopies are shredded when no longer needed for MMS purposes.
